Long-Term Disability
The University of Pennsylvania provides a long-term disability (LTD) plan for eligible employees who are unable to work due to a qualifying continuous disability of six (6) months or more. Penn’s LTD plan, in combination with income from other sources such as Social Security, provides a benefit of 60% of base salary up to a maximum of $15,000 per month. While receiving LTD benefits, the University continues coverage for medical, dental, basic life insurance, retirement, and tuition programs. Eligible employees and the University share in the cost of medical and dental coverage.
LTD policies are described in the University's Summary Plan Descriptions. These summaries provide general information regarding the benefit plans. Plan documents govern the provisions of the benefit plans. Specific information about each plan is available in the plan booklets for each plan provider.
