Be in the Know Begins with Biometric Screenings

Penn’s 2017-2018 Be in the Know wellness campaign, part of Penn Healthy You, gives you an opportunity to improve your wellbeing while earning extra cash. This year, you can receive up to $300.*

For 2017-2018, Be in the Know simplifies participation with 3 Steps to Success:

Step 1: Biometric Screening
Step 2: Online Health Assessment
Step 3: Bonus Actions

The biometric screening and online health assessment are the two Core Actions required to earn your first 100 points and $100.

Get Started with Your Free Biometric Screening
Take the first step to learning more about your health by registering now at www.hr.upenn.edu/beintheknow for your free, confidential biometric screening. Quick, convenient screenings are available at various Penn locations October 9 through November 21. 

At the biometric screening, a health educator will measure key components of your overall health, including blood pressure, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and blood sugar (glucose) levels. As a new option this year, you can fast before your screening to also learn low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and triglyceride levels.

What’s Next?

Complete your biometric screening to get ready for step 2, the online health assessment. Beginning in October, this confidential health assessment will be available to you shortly after you finish the biometric screening. Simply visit Penn’s StayWell portal to begin.

What’s New?
Get even more rewards by completing Bonus Actions worth up to 200 additional points for a total of $300 this year, plus a special gift opportunity!

Enjoy new campaign features, such as the “Bring a Friend” biometric screening bonus, simplified credit for preventative health screenings, and earning points for biking to work.

You can use your Be in the Know incentive for Campus Recreation options with no expiration dates this year. 

All returning Be in the Know participants will be entered into a prize drawing.

*You must be an active full- or part-time benefits-eligible faculty or staff member to participate.
All cash incentives are less applicable payroll taxes. Incentives will be issued in November 2017, and monthly from January – September 2018, in paychecks or as Campus Recreation credits. Payment times depend on when you complete the Core Actions and qualifying Bonus Action

Be in the Know is a voluntary wellness program administered in accordance with federal rules. You are not required to participate; however, employees who participate in the biometric screening and online health assessment will receive 100 Core Action points and a $100 cash incentive.

October is National Work and Family Month. This month and every month, Penn offers Work-Life programs to help you care for yourself and your loved ones—whether you’re a new parent, paying for senior care, or working on your own personal development.

Many people are inadequately prepared to face caring for an aging loved one. Too often, caregivers are forced to sort out different care options in a hurry without a clear understanding of quality and cost. Planning ahead helps families to prepare for the care of an aging family member and mitigate unexpected crisis such as illness or injury.
