The Netter Center High School Internship Program
Penn’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships has developed an internship program for seniors from two the William L. Sayre and West Philadelphia high schools in the School District of Philadelphia. The internships offer a win-win opportunity for the students and the Penn departments who host them. Students will gain valuable work experience and exposure to the higher education environment. In turn, your work group will receive needed assistance – and have the chance to make a direct, positive impact on the development of a local high school student.
Interns are high-achieving seniors nominated for the program by their school. They will work approximately 4 hours a week during the school day. There is no cost to the Penn worksite hosting the student. Internships are expected to begin in late October 2017 and continue through May 2018.
The internship gives students critical exposure to professional workplaces and helps them develop the soft skills that employers value.
As part of the program, students also receive professional development from the Netter Center throughout the year. A Netter staff member will visit the worksite on a regular basis to ensure a positive experience for both the student and Penn staff.

New Look, Same Access for Flexible Spending Accounts
The administration of Penn faculty and staff Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) was transferred from ADP to WageWorks, Inc. Providing a seamless transition is a top priority for ADP, WageWorks, Inc., and the University.
FSA participants will begin to see WageWorks, Inc. branding on spending account communications, documentation, forms, and websites. Although the look of these communications will change, you can continue to manage your FSA through www.pennbenefits.upenn.edu, Penn’s secure benefit enrollment and management website. You can still contact the Penn Benefits Center at 1-888-736-6236 for questions about FSAs. Benefit Representatives are available 8am to 6pm EST.
Uncashed Reimbursement Checks
On August 11, 2017, the bank account that reimburses FSA participants for eligible expenses will change. If you have any uncashed reimbursement checks, please cash or deposit them before August 11; otherwise these checks will be voided and reissued when the bank account changes.
If you do not have any uncashed checks, no action is required.
To report a lost check, please contact the Penn Benefits Center at 1-888-736-6236 and select #4 for Flexible Spending Accounts by August 6, 2017 to have the check reissued.
Claims and Reimbursements Freeze, August 14-18
In order to accommodate the bank account transition, a brief freeze in claims payments will be in effect August 14-18, 2017. During this time, you may continue to submit claims, but payments will not be issued until August 21, 2017. After the freeze, the reimbursement checks you receive will come from WageWorks rather than ADP. If you have incurred claims that have not been submitted, please visit www.pennbenefits.upenn.edu at your earliest convenience to submit them prior to the payment freeze.
Card transactions will not be impacted during this period, and you may continue to use your debit card as usual.

Did You Know? New Convenient Secure Human Resources Drop Box
For your convenience, the Division of Human Resources has partnered with Mail Services to provide a secure drop box for incoming human resources mail. The new box is located on the ground floor lobby of 3401 Walnut across from the elevators. The drop box is accessible 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
