Get Your Flu Shot

Flu season is fast approaching. But we can help you steer clear of the bug before it bites you!

Human Resources is partnering with Occupational Medicine to offer flu shots at Penn. Beginning in November, you can get a flu shot at three convenient locations on campus for just $25 (cash only). Shots will be administered on November 20, 28 and 29 at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Wharton School, and the School of Nursing. November is the perfect time to get vaccinated against the flu, so be sure to take advantage of the opportunity before it's too late.

You must pre-register to receive a flu shot. Time slots fill up quickly, so be sure to register as soon as possible.

Remember to bring your PennCard and wear clothing that provides easy access to your upper arm. For complete details on our flu shot program, click here.

Honoring Excellence at Penn

Patricia Rose, Director of Penn Career Services, was the 2012 Model Supervisor Award winner.

Great leaders are everywhere at Penn. Just ask the staff in Penn Career Services. This 28-person department thrives on energy, optimism and teamwork—much of which comes at the hands of their supervisor, Patricia Rose. That's why they nominated her for a Model Supervisor Award last year, and were thrilled when she was announced as the winner at last year's Models of Excellence ceremony.

“I was touched when I learned that my staff nominated me for something like that,” Pat said. “But I realized that the award was as much a reflection of our department and the work we do as it was recognition for me.”

Pat isn't the first supervisor to be celebrated by her department. The Models of Excellence Program, which honors staff member and supervisor accomplishments every year, has recognized nearly 700 Penn staff members over the last 13 years.

“There are so many exceptional supervisors and staff members at Penn, and the Models of Excellence Program is a terrific way to honor them. It helps us learn about their meaningful contributions to the life of the University,” Pat said.

Now it's your turn to recognize inspiring role models at Penn. Do you know colleagues who go above and beyond the call of duty every day? Is your supervisor an exceptional manager and strong leader? Nominate them for the 2013 Models of Excellence Program.

The deadline for submitting a nomination is Thursday, November 8. Click here for complete details.
