In honor of National Save for Retirement Week, which runs from October 16–22, take advantage of a series of events to help you secure your financial future. We’ll kick things off with a retirement fair on Tuesday, October 18 where you can meet with financial planning experts and learn how the University’s retirement plans can help you meet your financial goals.
Then, from Tuesday through Thursday, join us for over a dozen retirement planning workshops covering topics like financial planning for inexperienced investors, staying on track during life changes, and what to think about if you’re planning to retire in a few years.

Chart Your Career Course at Penn
When Sylvie Beauvais's grandmother told her Penn would be a great place to develop her career, she wasn't sure she believed her. Now ten years later, Sylvie says her grandmother was right.
"There's no better place than Penn to learn new skills and grow as a professional. I can't believe I found a home with so many unique opportunities," she said.
Sylvie's career at Penn began in July 2002 at the Wharton Health Care Management Department. As an administrative assistant, she had her hands full assisting faculty with research, teaching and event planning. Three years later, she climbed the career ladder and became a project coordinator at the Annenberg School for Communication. Sylvie continued to enhance her event planning skills, but also learned new tricks of the trade like tracking finances and managing budgets.
"This was the perfect transition for me. I like working on interesting projects with smart people. And Penn is rife with both," she said.
Now in her tenth year as a Penn staff member, Sylvie is the Associate Director of Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs and Global Family Alliance, and she attributes much of her success to the opportunities at Penn.
"We have so much at our fingertips here. I got my master's degree in liberal arts with the help of Penn's tuition benefit. And I've enrolled in countless professional development programs and met with Penn's career coach so I could continue to develop new skills and put them into practice," Sylvie said.

Save Time and Money with Penn’s Pet Care Benefits
Healthcare costs add up quickly, especially when you throw pets into the equation. But we can help you take better care of your furry friend for less money—and with a convenience factor that’s hard to beat.
Human Resources is partnering with Penn Veterinary Medicine to promote two great new benefits for Penn faculty and staff. Beginning October 3, you’ll get a 10% discount on all specialty services at Ryan Veterinary Hospital. That includes a wide range of services like dentistry, oncology, internal medicine or behavioral analysis.
And if you’re struggling to squeeze an appointment into your workday, don’t worry. With Ryan Hospital’s new drop-off service, you can leave your pet at the hospital for the day and pick it up after work. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Want to learn more? Ryan Hospital is holding an open house on September 27 from 3:30pm-6pm in the Rosenthal Imaging and Treatment Center. Contact Darleen Coles at coles@vet.upenn.edu or 215-746-2421 if you’d like to attend.
