Penn Recognized as the first 100% Tobacco-Free Ivy League Institution
News from May 2, 2018
The American Nonsmokers’ Rights (ANR) Foundation recently named the University of Pennsylvania as the very first 100% tobacco-free Ivy League institution university-wide.
After conducting research on how schools rate on tobacco-free and smoke-free campus protections, the ANF found that Penn is the only Ivy League university to provide blanket smoke-free/tobacco-free coverage across all property and schools controlled by the University. The ANF has also placed Penn on its official list of tobacco-free colleges and universities.
Penn is committed to creating a tobacco-free community. Through its Tobacco-free Together Campaign Penn has provided a healthier environment by removing ash urns, cleaning up cigarette litter, and placing signage and posters on campus to promote healthier living. We also updated the University’s tobacco-free campus policy.
