For everyone who overindulged this holiday season (and even those that didn’t!), we invite you to get moving and kick off your 2020 with our monthly wellness walk. Each January, roughly one-third of Americans resolve to better themselves in some way and even fewer follow through. This month’s New Year’s Resolution themed walk, held in the Palestra, will occur rain or shine – No excuses not to come! Whether you wish to lose weight, have more energy, or just be healthier, it is important to remember to reach your goals one step at a time. We hope you will be able to join us for this Human Resources and Center for Public Health Initiatives co-sponsored event. Bring your water bottle and don’t forget your sneakers and a co-worker! February (INDOOR) Wellness Walk 02/21/2020 12-1 pm A special someone may hold the key to your heart, but taking care of yourself by eating well and being physically active can be the key to a healthier heart! Meet the Center for Public Health Initiatives Staff inside the Palestra for some heart-healthy exercise on February 21st between 12:00-1:00 pm. Although candy hearts and heart-shaped boxes of chocolate are often the main features of Valentine’s Day festivities, February is also American Heart Month and an appropriate time to pay attention to one of the most important organs in your body. As the center of your circulatory system, your heart is vitally responsible for just about everything that gives your body life. In keeping with this month’s Valentine’s Day and Heart Health theme, participants are encouraged to wear red for this 1-2 mile walk. Bring your water bottle and don’t forget your sneakers! March (INDOOR) Wellness Walk 03/27/2020 12-1 pm March is National Nutrition Month: Meet the Center for Public Health Initiatives Staff and walk one mile or two-mile route while chatting about nutrition and how you can develop a mindful eating pattern that includes nutritious and flavorful foods. April Wellness Walk 04/17/2020 12-1 pm PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WALK WILL TAKE PLACE INSIDE THE PALESTRA IF THERE IS INCLEMENT WEATHER. Take a wellness break and meet staff from Campus Health and Human Resources at 12:00 pm, inside The Palestra, for an invigorating two-mile walk.
