Retiring After PDST

Employees on Position Discontinuation and Staff Transition (PDST) who meet the Rule of 75 are eligible for retiree benefits on the 1st day of the month after their PDST ends.

Example: Mary is on PDST until March 9, and she meets the Rule of 75. Her active-employee medical benefits will continue through March 31, and she will be eligible for coverage under Penn's retiree benefits effective April 1.

Having Your Workday Access Restored

Enrollment in retiree benefits is done through Workday. Because access to Workday is discontinued during PDST, you'll need to submit a request to the Benefits Office 90 days before your retirement date for your Workday access to be restored. Please submit the request through the Solution Center at solutioncenter@upenn.edu or 215-898-7372. You can use the text below for your request:

Attn: Benefits - I am on PDST until [date] and meet the Rule of 75, so I will retire on that date. Please restore my access to Workday. If you need to contact me, I can be reached at [email and/or phone].
