As part of that commitment, Penn has transitioned its Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) navigation services from PeopleJoy to Savi, providing benefits-eligible faculty, staff, and postdoctoral scholars with an enhanced experience and expanded resources for navigating federal student loan repayment and forgiveness programs.

What Is Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is a federal program that may forgive the remaining balance of eligible federal student loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments while working full-time for a qualifying employer. As a nonprofit institution, the University of Pennsylvania is generally considered a qualifying employer for PSLF purposes.
To help employees navigate federal student loan repayment and forgiveness programs, Penn offers complimentary access to Savi, a student loan guidance service available to benefits-eligible faculty, staff, and postdoctoral scholars. Family members can also access self-directed support and services with an option to upgrade (for a fee).

Savi provides benefits-eligible faculty, staff, and postdoctoral scholars with personalized support throughout the student loan repayment and forgiveness process, including:

Recognizing that student debt impacts households, not just individuals, Savi extends its platform to employees’ family members through a free DIY plan or a self-funded Essential plan, which provides family members with access to premium features such as one-on-one student loan support and digitized applications.
Through Penn’s partnership with TIAA, Savi also helps you consider student loan repayment as part of your overall retirement planning.

- Visit www.hr.upenn.edu/savi (Employees) to activate your account and connect with a Savi student loan expert.
If You're Approaching Loan Forgiveness
- Verify your qualifying payment count.
- Review your projected forgiveness timeline.
- Identify and resolve potential discrepancies.
- Prepare your final PSLF application.
Please note: Although Savi can help you prepare for forgiveness, processing timelines are determined by the U.S. Department of Education and federal loan servicers and are not affected by Penn's transition to Savi.
Previously Submitted PSLF Forms
Any PSLF employment certifications that have already been submitted and approved remain part of your permanent federal loan record. No action is required to preserve previously approved qualifying payments.

- Previously approved employment certifications remain part of your federal student aid record.
- Transitioning to Savi does not reset your PSLF progress.
- You can verify your payment count through StudentAid.gov.
