Long-Term Care Insurance
Long-term care is what you need when you’re no longer able to take care of yourself and need help with basic, everyday tasks like bathing or getting yourself dressed. Since we can’t predict the future, we don’t know when the need for that kind of care may arise.
That’s why the University of Pennsylvania offers its faculty and staff and their eligible family members Long-Term Care Insurance. Coverage is provided when care is required for an extended period of time in a nursing home, in your own home, in an adult day care center, or in other types of covered care facilities.
Please note: Penn’s current Long-Term Care Insurance vendor, John Hancock, will stop accepting enrollment applications as of December 31, 2011. Applications postmarked after December 31, 2011 will not be processed. Those who have existing contracts with John Hancock will retain their coverage. Eligible faculty and staff (including all new hires as of Jan. 1, 2012) will have the opportunity to enroll with Penn’s new Long-Term Care Insurance vendor during a special enrollment period in Spring 2012. Full details will be announced at that time.
