Division of Human Resources

Message from the Vice President

Summer in Philadelphia—and on Penn’s campus—is a wonderful time. The sunshine is abundant, and the days stretch on as if inviting us to spend more time outdoors.

Although the academic year is no longer in full swing, Penn’s faculty and staff continue to devote themselves to their respective academic and professional callings. Their work is what allows this great University to pursue its mission of scholarship, research and community service. I encourage those of you interested in being part of this vibrant environment to use this website to learn about the multitude of benefits and services available to you as a member of the Penn community, as well as the many excellent employment opportunities here at Penn.

Penn is proud to be recognized widely as an Employer of Choice. For the fourth consecutive year, Computerworld Magazine has named our Office of Information Systems & Computing the top place to work in IT in the Mid-Atlantic region. We were also recognized as a Best Place to Work by Philadelphia Magazine in its most recent evaluation of area employers.

The Division of Human Resources strives to develop and maintain Penn’s status as an Employer of Choice. We are dedicated to the recruitment, retention and development of highly qualified and committed individuals who support the University's goals of increased access, integrated knowledge, and local and global engagement. To accomplish this, we offer a generous total compensation package, numerous opportunities for professional development and advancement, and a wide variety of services and programs designed to support and enhance the work experience for our faculty and staff.

Our division provides the structures and systems that enable Penn to welcome and support diversity in the workforce. A diverse and open campus maximizes our talent pool, inspires creative thinking, and encourages a culture in which different views are appreciated and respected. Our focus is on the people at Penn—over twenty-thousand strong—who make us the largest private employer in the Philadelphia region.

If you have any questions or comments about Penn or the services provided by Human Resources, please send us an e-mail at or write to us at the University of Pennsylvania, Division of Human Resources, Office of the Vice President, 3401 Walnut Street, Suite 538A, Philadelphia, PA 19104-6228.
